About Our Mastectomy Bras
We provide medical-grade, comfortable and supportive mastectomy bras to aid your post surgery recovery. Our mastectomy bras have adjustable straps, soft seams and no underwires. Breast surgery can be stressful for both mind and body, particularly after breast cancer, which is why finding the right post surgery bra is key. Our mastectomy bras have been created to provide extra support as you heal.
Post Surgery Bras For Mastectomies With Or Without Reconstruction
Our post surgery bras are suitable for use following a single mastectomy or double mastectomy, with or without reconstructive surgery.
If you are undergoing a full mastectomy without reconstruction, we highly recommend our Minimizer bra, which can provide the support and comfort you need during this time. If you are having a mastectomy with reconstruction and getting breast implants, the Signature Bra or Ultimate Bra will provide the ideal support.
For customers who have undergone a unilateral mastectomy (one breast removed), we currently do not have a bra designed specifically for that purpose. However, some customers have found our Ultimate Bra to be a suitable option when worn with our Comfort insert. This insert can be placed on top of the removed breast, offering additional support and comfort.
Mastectomy Bra Sizing & Measurements
Choosing your mastectomy bra size might seem difficult but each macom® compression mastectomy bra is created with expandable cups which mould and adapt to support your new breast size. You won't need a measurement to wear a macom® recovery bra, you only need to know your current current bra size. I.e. X-Small (28-30), Small (32), Medium (34), Large (36), X-Large (38), XX-Large (40).
Why Choose Medical-Grade Mastectomy Bras
macom® compression bras are uniquely designed with you in mind to help assist in your recovery following breast surgery. We have the best mastectomy bras because our post surgery bras have been created in collaboration with surgeons. They are designed using medical-grade compression technology which increases blood circulation, aids skin and breast tissue retraction and reduces the risk of lymphedema.
Our mastectomy bras provide evenly distributed compression to support your chest and back, while allowing you to move more freely and with greater ease in the immediate period after mastectomy or reconstructive surgery – before you start to consider a prosthesis bra, if wanted.
Post Mastectomy Bras FAQs
What Kind Of Bra Do You Wear After A Mastectomy?
Following a mastectomy, compression bras offer the best support for your recovery. They help with discomfort, reduce swelling and pain and ensure a faster recovery. The best mastectomy bras are soft, have no underwire and are adjustable – like our macom® post surgery bras.
Once you have healed from your mastectomy, there are options for what bra to use whether you had reconstruction with implants or not. For those who do not have implants, you can use a prosthesis bra using inserts. You can also get inserts for your previously used bras.
If you are having a mastectomy with reconstruction, a supportive compression bra will help during recovery. You may then need to purchase new supportive bras that match your breast shape and size.
How Long Do I Have To Wear A Post Surgery Bra After A Mastectomy?
Mastectomy bras will need to be worn 24 hours a day for at least 6 weeks and up to 12 weeks post surgery. It is imperative though that you have multiple bras that are washed regularly to maintain a clean area around your incision sites. We recommend two mastectomy bras so one can be worn while the other is being washed.
How long and how often you need to wear a post surgery bra after your mastectomy will depend on your recovery, so always consult your surgeon for individual advice.
